Title
Description
The purpose of the study is to "make a significant contribution to our knowledge about Canadian higher education" by drawing a comprehensive, detailed portrait of academic life in Canada. The study attempts to look at the "inner life" of the academic profession by, in part, examining the attitudes and orientations of those at the heart of the educational enterprise: the full-time teaching staff. Information in the following areas is collected: nature of academic activities and preferences approaches and attitudes toward teaching perception of and attitudes toward administration perception of and attitudes toward local institutions, perception of and attitudes toward the social and intellectual thrust of the system of higher education, (elitist versus egalitarian, autonomous versus service function)
