<text>Computer-assisted telephone interview (CATI) & mail-back questionnaire.
The first component of the project, the General Population survey, was a 33 minute telephone interview with a representative sample of 2084 Canadians. Households were selected using random digit dialing procedures and respondents were selected randomly within households. Interviewing was carried out in both English and French between March and August, 1987. The response rate for the General population survey was 64%.
The second component of the project, the Decision Makers survey, was a telephone survey of lawyers, MPs, MPPs, police officers, Ministry officials, and Crown Attorneys. These 1348 respondents represent the judicial, legislative and executive branches of government which are charged with interpreting and applying the Canadian Charter of Rights. A slightly shorter version of the interview instrument averaging 29 minutes in length was used in this phase of the project. Interviewing was carried out between April and September of 1987 in English and French. Between October and December 1987 a supplemental sample of 35 decision maker respondents in Quebec were interviewed.
The telephone interviewing was conducted with computer assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) equipment from a centralized telephone laboratory located at the Institute. Features of the CATI system were used to examine the effects of variations in question wording and question order in survey research.
Respondents of both telephone surveys were asked to complete a mailback questionnaire. Approximately 80% of respondents to both the General Population survey and the Decision Makers survey gave their addresses and about 75% of each sample returned the questionnaire, for a total of 2186 mail completions.
Demographic variables collected via the Decision Makers survey were made available only to the principal investigators.</text>

Two types of CDs containing data are being made available for CIHMS- one at national level (one per cent sample) and the other at State level (five per cent or ten per cent sample). The basic difference between these two sets is that the State sample would allow the user to generate estimates at national, state and district levels, while, the one per cent sample would allow tabulation only at national and state levels. it was felt necessary to provide larger sample for small districts of the country. Hence a 10 per cent sample has been selected from such districts for inclusion in the state sample.</text>

For first-time users: In order to download data, you need to set up an account on the ICPSR website. It is necessary to be at a U of T IP address when the initial account setup is completed. You can either authenticate through U of T's my.access before browsing to the ICPSR website, or use UTORvpn. Once you have your account setup, this authentication step should no longer be necessary, you will just log in using your ICPSR account.</text>

<text>Mass Observation Online makes available original manuscript and typescript papers created and collected by the Mass Observation organisation, as well as printed publications, photographs and interactive features. A pioneering social research organisation, Mass Observation was founded in 1937 by anthropologist Tom Harrisson, film-maker Humphrey Jennings and poet Charles Madge. Their aim was to create an 'anthropology of ourselves', and by recruiting a team of observers and a panel of volunteer writers they studied the everyday lives of ordinary people in Britain. This resource covers the original Mass Observation project, the bulk of which was carried out from 1937 until the mid-1950s, offering an unparalleled insight into everyday life in Britain during these transformative years.</text>

The 2012 NIS was redesigned. The new NIS is a sample of discharges from all hospitals participating in HCUP. For prior years, the NIS was a sample of hospitals. The NIS allows for weighted national estimates to identify, track, and analyze national trends in health care utilization, access, charges, quality, and outcomes.
The NIS contains clinical and resource use information included in a typical discharge abstract, with safeguards to protect the privacy of individual patients, physicians, and hospitals (as required by data sources). The NIS excludes data elements that could directly or indirectly identify individuals.</text>

<text>An exploratory study of leaders of industrial enterprises, in Recife, a Northeast Brazilian city which has witnessed increasing poverty, unemployment, and political instability. Its industry has been one of the main targets of a regional development program (SUDENE) which subsidized and encouraged new enterprises. A representative sample of heads of enterprises (employing 50 or more persons) founded prior to SUDENE (the old elite) and heads of enterprises founded after 1960 (the new elite) are the source of the data. In-depth interview were conducted in order to determine the role of this industrial elite in the economic growth of Recife. Particular attention is devoted to the relations of this elite and their enterprises to key institutions in the developmental process such as labour, banks, education and government agencies. A prime goal of this study is to measure the effects of this uniquye regional development program on the industrial structure and to determine whether entrepreneurial activity is fostered. The major research instrument is a detailed questionnaire covering biographical background, values and attitudes, the extent of foreign investment and control, industrial relations, financial institutions, government agencies, recruitment, succession and expension.</text>

It was developed by Leonard L. Berry (Distinguished Professor, Texas A&M University), A. Parasuraman, and Valarie A. Zeithaml. The Texas A&M University Libraries and other libraries used modified SERVQUAL instruments for several years; those applications revealed the need for a newly adapted tool that would serve the particular requirements of libraries. <text>LibQUAL+‚Ñ¢ is intended to provide a measure of the value of library service quality across multiple academic and research libraries. The current LibQUAL+‚Ñ¢ instrument measures library users' perceptions of their libraries' service quality and identifies gaps between minimal, desired and perceived levels of service.
LibQUAL+‚Ñ¢ is a suite of services that libraries use to solicit, track, understand, and act upon users' opinions of service quality. These services are offered to the library community by the Association of Research Libraries (ARL). The program's centerpiece is a rigorously tested Web-based survey bundled with training that helps libraries assess and improve library services, change organizational culture, and market the library.
The instrument addresses three service quality dimensions that have been found to be valid in previous assessments of library services: Affect of Service, Library as Place, Information Control. Each question has three parts that ask respondents to indicate (1) the minimum service level they will accept, (2) the desired service level they expect, and (3) the perceived level of service currently provided.</text>

Access to Datastream is via the LSEG Workspace platform. Sign up for a MyRefinitiv account by filling out the following form: https://my.refinitiv.com/productregistration.html. Use your U of T email address, and select the LSEG product(s) you wish to have access to. Please note that the account registration process will take 24-72 hours during the work week. Once your account has been created, you will then have 24/7 access to these LSEG products. LSEG Workspace is available as a desktop application, web platform, and Excel plugin.
Please read before applying:

We have a limited number of accounts, so we ask you to please only register if you actively intend to use the platform for your research.
You must indicate whether you are applying for Datastream or SDC Platinum, or both. Failure to select either of these options means your application will not be approved.
Due to a consistent demand but low usage of accounts, if you are an undergraduate or master's level student, please email mhl@rotman.utoronto.ca with an explanation for your research needs for an account. This is required for account approval.
All undergraduate and master's level accounts will be deactivated after April 30th of each year. Users may reapply by contacting mhl@rotman.utoronto.ca.

<text>These are first approximations based on surveyor methodology which involved the running of concession lines that were measured using simple tools of compass and chains. Along the concessions, lots were marked off at 67 chains (1 chain = 66 feet = 20.12m). The surveyors noted the vegetation cover along these lines. Thus the polygons created are accurate observations along the concession lines but are not guaranteed for the areas in between as they were built as interpolations by Peter Findlay. There are also limitations with respect to identification of species such as maple and oaks only to the genus level. </text>
